Movie Review:
Unlike other heroes, Manoj is not after commercial flicks but always looks for some kind of novelty. Most of his films are of different subject and he always does different characters. After his recent filmVedam, he looked for another different subject and at the same time wanted to do some kind of action and commercial entertainer too. Let’s see what he offers in Mr Nookayya.
Nookayya aka Nokia is a cellphone thief. He is an orphan and he has two friends Nampally (Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao) and Chaa Chaa (Vennela Kishore). He is in love with Shilpa (Sana Khan) asks Nookayya that they should have a nice car, lots of cash and a house before their marriage.On the other hand, Anuradha (Kriti Karbandha) marries Kiran (Raja) and they both were on a trip to Bangalore when Kiran gets kidnapped by a gang led by Shajahan (Murali Sharma).
They demand Rs 2 crore ransom for the release of Kiran. Anu works in a bank and somehow steals Rs 2 crore from but Nookayya steals the money from her. However, when he takes the money to Shilpa, he is surprised to know a harsh fact and Shilpa and Chaa Chaa escape with the money. Later, Nookayya accidentally meets Anu and comes to know that the money is stolen from the bank for the release of her husband. The kind hearted Nookayya decided to rescue her husband. Did Nookayya release her husband from the clutches of kidnappers? Did Shilpa marry Nookayya? Is there any twist in the kidnap of Kiran? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.
Performance:
Manoj has given an excellent performance all through the film and he has taken the entire responsibility to work for the success of the film. He shot several risky shots in the action scenes as he himself choreographed the action scenes. The actor has shown lots of ease in songs too. Sana Khan filled the glamour slot and Kriti Karbandha has got an excellent role to perform. Rest others are okay.
Technical:
Rajasekhar’s cinematography is extraordinary. He has perfectly shot all the action scenes and the songs. Likewise, Naveen’s editing is also adequate. Dialogues by Paruchuri brothers are nice and there are some punch dialogues for Manoj. Comedy tracks for Brahmanandam, Vennela Kishre, Raghubabu and others too are perfectly penned by the writers. Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, though has some Tamil scent, appears okay as the choreography of songs is good. The only draw back of the film is the poor direction by Ani Kanneganti. Though, he has a very good storyline, he could not narrate it properly. He has lost grip on the story throughout the film. The entire first half of the film is very slow and pathetic. The interval bang is, however, good. Again he has lost grip on the subject in the second half. However, the climax is good.
Remarks:
The screenplay of the film is very loose and that is the reason he could not narrate the story properly. Had the director penned the screenplay, the film could have gone to places. The film may be liked by the audiences in ‘B’ and ‘C’ centres for excellent action scenes, the success of the film in ‘A’ centre is doubtful.
